About me

Dr. Alison Batchelder

As human beings, we frequently subject ourselves to harsh self-judgment. While self-criticism has its merits on occasion, it often engenders emotional turmoil. Research into self-compassion has unveiled its extraordinary ability to diminish anxiety, depression, and stress while elevating motivation, confidence, and overall performance. Yet, the practical application of self-compassion is often more challenging than mere words suggest.

As a highly skilled and experienced clinical psychologist, I specialize in anxiety, depression, stress, self-compassion, the impostor phenomenon, perfectionism, and life transitions. I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University and received additional training from institutions such as Stanford University. I completed advanced Perinatal Mental Health training (PMH-C), further demonstrating my expertise and commitment to supporting individuals during pregnancy and postpartum. I also hold a certification in SCIP (Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy), which has deepened my understanding of self-compassion and its impact on mental health.

I have a special interest in helping individuals struggling with imposter syndrome as one of the few researchers to have done my dissertation on the imposter phenomenon and self-compassion. I have extensive experience in working with individuals who struggle with feelings of inadequacy and imposter syndrome, and I am committed to helping them overcome these challenges and build self-confidence.

I have a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and I specialize in helping my clients develop a more positive and compassionate relationship with themselves. My approach is tailored to the unique needs of each individual, and combines evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) with mindfulness and self-compassion practices. My therapy sessions are designed to be both informative and empowering, helping clients to gain a deeper understanding of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and to develop the tools they need to make positive changes in their lives.

I am a respected professional in the field, and I regularly present on the topics of mindfulness, self-compassion, and imposter syndrome at conferences and workshops.

If you're looking to improve your mental well-being and overcome feelings of inadequacy, I am here to help. With my compassionate, evidence-based approach and my commitment to helping my clients achieve their goals, I can help you on your journey to mental wellness and self-acceptance.
